In I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, Maya describes her coming up as a precocious bonny insecure unappeasable girl in American south during the 1930s and in California during the 1940s. Throughout Mayas carriage she came at heart a variety of obstacles that affected her mentally. Maya has had personal experiences with racism and segregation to family issues and self-esteem that have affected her throughout her spirit.
